Handoff

Terms of Service

Last updated: 2026-07-14.

1. What this service is

Handoff is a tool that helps a web developer deliver a static website to their client: the developer uploads the site files, gets a link, and their client can launch it live. Handoff is operated by VCHandoff. The developer is our user; the client is the developer's customer.

2. Accounts

Developers create an account with an email and password. You are responsible for keeping your password secure and for activity on your account.

3. Your content & client sites

You (the developer) are responsible for the content of the sites you upload, including that you have the rights to use that content and that delivering it to your client is authorized. Handoff deploys your files as-is and does not modify your site's content. We do not claim ownership of your content.

4. Hosting & ownership

Client sites deploy into your own Cloudflare account (which you connect with a scoped API token). You own the hosting relationship. Handoff does not host your sites; it automates the delivery. Domains a client registers through the flow are registered to the client.

5. Domain registration

If a client does not have a domain, you may optionally register one through your connected Cloudflare account. The domain is registered to the client (using the client's details you provide), but the registration is billed to your Cloudflare payment method and is non-refundable. Handoff shows you the price and a review step and requires an explicit confirm before any charge. Because registration is billable and non-refundable, verify the domain spelling and the client's registrant details before confirming. Handoff is not the registrar; the registration is between you, your client, and Cloudflare's registrar, subject to their terms.

6. Billing

The free tier includes a limited number of launches with a branded delivery page. A paid subscription ($19.99/mo, billed by Handoff via Stripe) enables unlimited launches and removes branding. Subscription billing recurs monthly until cancelled. Cancellations take effect per Stripe's subscription lifecycle; you may cancel at any time. Subscription fees are non-refundable except where required by law. Domain registration fees (if you use that feature) are billed separately by Cloudflare and are non-refundable.

7. Acceptable use

You will not use Handoff to deliver malware, phishing, infringing content, or anything illegal, or to abuse the service or its rate limits. We may suspend accounts that violate this.

8. No warranty; service availability

The service is provided "as is." We do not guarantee uninterrupted availability. Because hosting lives in your Cloudflare account, uptime of your client sites depends on Cloudflare, not Handoff.

9. Limitation of liability

To the extent permitted by law, Handoff's liability is limited to the amount you paid us in the prior 12 months.

10. Changes to these terms

We may update these terms; continued use after a change means you accept the revised terms. Material changes will be noted on the changelog.

11. Eligibility & termination

You must be at least 18 (or the age of majority where you live) to create an account. You can stop using the service and delete your account at any time; your site files are always exportable first. We may suspend or terminate accounts that violate these terms.

12. Governing law

These terms are governed by the laws of the jurisdiction where VCHandoff resides, and disputes will be resolved in the courts of that jurisdiction, unless the law where you live grants you non-waivable rights to something different.
